Marriott The Big Dog, Berlin

The Big Dog at Marriott Berlin.

We created a hot dog character that is featured in the interior and on packaging.

A destinational hub for hotel guests, tourists and locals.

Marriott Berlin, centrally located on the border of the old West and East Berlin, approached us to design the interior and brand identity in their new restaurant and takeaway offering focused on ‘sausages and beer’ to attract the hotel’s guests, tourists and Berliners alike.

We were tasked with developing a full brand concept and a complementary interior. Our design needed to be a bright and open destinational hub for those looking for an authentic, fun, and modern take on Germany’s favourite food, the sausage.

Harnessing the freedom to be playful in the branding and interior design brief we utalised the sausage to its full potential and created The Big Dog

Our branding and interior teams worked closely together to create a complementary and cohesive brand that is modern, fresh, bold and fun.

Our in-house illustration team created The Big Dog character.

Brand identity included menus and collateral.

We created a hot dog colour pallet softened with accents of whites and pinks.

Fun and fresh menu design and bespoke menu holder.

We used a mixture of materials to create the vibrant and alluring interior; red concrete coats the floor and undyed concrete was used to create the bar counter.

A playful hot dog colour pallet was installed throughout. Bright mustard-yellow tiles cut a striking stripe through the ketchup-coloured tiles that front the bar. The ceiling is a deep red.

Injecting a splash of contrast, we designed black accents in the ceiling pendants and stool legs, as well as bright blue table-tops that pop out from the hotdog-colour-laden space.

Our strong colours were toned down through using pinks, whites and fresh takes on mustard and ketchup inspired colourings, which established an informal, open and relaxed dining area.

We created the full brand with all the collaterals from scratch including name, logos, menu design, and OS&E including uniforms, paperware and mural art, stationery, colour scheme, tone of voice and digital assets for the website. In addition, we designed full guidelines for all future branding within the site.

The jovial Big Dog character was central to our branding design and establishment of the restaurant's tone of voice.
