The Hobson Hotel, Cambridge

B3 Designers worked with Adina Hotels to provide design direction for their new property in Cambridge.

The Hobson Cambridge by Adina

B3 Designers has provided the design direction for The Hobson Cambridge by Adina, the brand’s first UK property, transforming the historic Grade II-listed Hobson House into a contemporary aparthotel that celebrates its rich heritage.

The approach

Drawing on years of collaboration with Adina (TFE Hotels), B3 carefully considered the building’s Victorian features including its iconic arches, tall windows, and grand staircase, while introducing modern comforts and a thoughtful, guest-focused layout.

The Details

The design approach covers the 56 studios, meeting areas, communal zones, and the F&B space Oz & Isle creating environments that are inviting, adaptable, and thoughtfully arranged. Carefully chosen furniture, lighting, fabrics, and decorative touches bring both comfort and refined style to every corner.

Each studio apartment has been crafted to feel cozy and welcoming, with furnishings, lighting, soft textiles, and practical kitchenettes that combine modern convenience with a home-like, relaxing atmosphere.

Lobby, Reception, and restaurant

The lobby and reception areas were a focus, with B3 designing a biophilic concept filled with lush greenery, layered seating, and varied textures to create warmth within the large, open interior. Smartly planned furniture layouts, work desks, and subtle zoning guide the guest journey, while day-night adaptability allows the restaurant Oz & Isle to transition seamlessly from breakfast and casual meetings to evening drinks.

A Destination in Cambridge

Strategic lighting, seasonal focal points such as a central tree, and nature-inspired artwork complement the building’s historic architecture, creating a welcoming, multifunctional hub for both hotel guests and locals. The result is a memorable, profitable, and flexible environment that highlights The Hobson as a destination in Cambridge, appealing both to travellers and locals.
