Lina Stores & Bar Lina, Manchester

B3 Designers created a dual-concept venue in Manchester’s Quoin Building: Lina Stores and Bar Lina.

The Concept

B3 Designers were commissioned to design the interiors for White Rabbit Group’s dual-concept venue in Manchester – Lina Stores Manchester and Bar Lina. Together, they merge Italian heritage with contemporary energy, with one space reimagining the iconic Soho deli and another celebrating 1970s Italian nightlife.

At the front, Lina Stores captures the warmth and familiarity of the original delicatessen through soft greens, warm timber, and terrazzo. At the rear, Bar Lina channels the glamour of 1970s/’80s Italian disco culture with deep reds, chrome, and velvet.

Both areas have distinct identities that connect through tone and material, offering a seamless day-to-night experience.

Design Direction

The design retains much of the Quoin Building’s structure, reducing intervention and celebrating character. Durable timber, stainless steel, terrazzo, and recycled fibres were chosen for longevity.

Lighting, acoustics, and circulation were carefully planned for guest comfort and staff efficiency. Modular furniture, concealed service points, and zoning ensure both function and flow, without compromising the immersive design.

Focus on Guest experience

With both venues, we needed to evolve the iconic brand for new audiences. Our approach was to blend storytelling, sustainability, and performance into one cohesive hospitality experience. Both venues balance nostalgia with modern performance.

The restaurant: Focussing on both the retail and restaurant experience, the design incorporates open kitchen views, terrazzo floors, and mid-century lighting to evoke classic Italian charm while supporting efficient service.

Bar Lina: Reflective finishes, oxblood leather, and moody lighting create a transformative late-night space inspired by Italian disco culture.

We designed the layout to be flexible, allowing for independent operation or a transition from dining to nightlife, with adaptable seating for events and private gatherings.
