MPC Reception

Soho, London

Work Spaces

Award winning film and advertising post-production and VFX company MPC needed a redesign for their Soho-based reception area that fitted with their cool brand.

The brief to B3 was to design a space that would house a three-person reception desk as well as a seated area for waiting guests and visitors to the studio. It needed to be ‘a fusion of both modern design, industrial architecture and more classical elements which will convey the spirit of the company but will also not date easily’.

Using thin timber cladding from floor to ceiling on the walls we achieved a feel of cool warmth, complemented by brass light fittings and low, wide brass window sills which have been built up to become planters on the left-hand side of the reception, allowing privacy to the reception team without disrupting the natural light from flooding in.

The reception desk is clad in black-painted wood panelling and concrete top giving the industrial vibe the brief required. A large cinema-style lit back board with neo MPC signage boldly welcomes visitors to the studio.

An old real-film camera on tripod stands proudly in the corner reminding visitors of the great history of the film industry.

A cool, relaxed ‘lounge’ area nods towards the 70’s whilst still feeling modern sits under a screen where the company can showcase its latest works and a collection of eclectic but complementary arm chairs sit on the other side of the room.
