Jackson & Rye Restaurant Review

The latest venture from the team behind the Soho based Grillshack, Jackson and Rye, can be found in the heart of Soho and is thought to be one if the best new spots for brunch. We went one evening for supper and as like many restaurants in London, the space was full of a variety of groups, from tables of two’s to larger party groups of seven.

Divided into three areas, the interior language flows throughout the space. With 160 covers in the dining areas and an additional 10 at the cocktail bar, the space reflects an art deco feel throughout. Spread over 2 floors the materials are used on both floors.

The menu is that of many American inspired restaurants. With a variety of burgers, grilled cheese, steak and more. I had the crispy buttermilk fried chicken, which was to die for!

The space across both floors is a mixture of both loose seating with the addition and softness of banquette seating throughout. The restaurant has a great hustle and bustle feeling to the space and is a great place to go to for a catch up with friends.

The art deco aesthetic has been created with a small and minimal pallet. The ceiling is a wash of bullet-hole panels finished in a very dark green gloss, which in turn reflects the lighting throughout the space.

The walls are finished in an aged paint finish with timber fluting to the lower level of the space, which can be seen as you travel throughout the space.

The dropped pendants and a variety of desk and wall lights create a very welcoming atmosphere. Overall we found the restaurant environment, service and food was great.

The interior created a feeling of warmth where you could spend an evening catching up with a friend and at the same time eat some delicious comfort food inspired by the other side of the pond.
