B3-Designed Lina Stores & Bar Lina Manchester restaurant wins major international design

Lina Stores Manchester and Bar Lina have received two significant international design honours, winning Silver at the Scottish Design Awards and Winner at the DNA Paris Design Awards for interior design.

Located in Manchester’s Quoin Building, the dual-concept venue was designed by London-based hospitality studio B3 Designers for White Rabbit Group. The project combines two distinct experiences: Lina Stores, inspired by the original Soho delicatessen, and Bar Lina, which draws on the glamour of 1970s Italian nightlife.

The design contrasts soft green tones, terrazzo flooring, warm timber, and mid-century detailing in the restaurant with deeper colours, chrome, velvet, and reflective finishes in the bar. Rather than separating the two venues with physical barriers, the transition is created through changes in material, lighting, and atmosphere, allowing the space to evolve naturally from daytime dining to evening drinks.

“We’re delighted to see Lina Stores & Bar Lina recognised by both the Scottish Design Awards and the DNA Paris Design Awards,” said Mark Bithrey, Founder of B3 Designers. “The project was about evolving an iconic brand for a new audience while creating a venue that performs operationally from morning through to late night. By blending storytelling, sustainability, and functionality, we created two distinct experiences that work together as one cohesive hospitality destination.”

The awards also recognise the project’s sustainable approach. Much of the existing Quoin Building structure was retained, while durable materials including terrazzo, stainless steel, timber, and recycled fibres were selected for longevity and reduced environmental impact.

B3 Designers is known for designing restaurants and its hotel design across the UK and Europe, including projects for The Ritz-CarltonSheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel & Conference Center, Michelin-starred Lita, and The Cinnamon Club.

With these latest wins, Lina Stores & Bar Lina joins a growing list of Manchester hospitality venues gaining international recognition for design excellence.

How Long Does it Take to Open a Restaurant

Over the last 25 years I’ve worked on everything from independent restaurants to hotel restaurants and refits. One of the most common questions I get is: “How long will it take to open my restaurant?”
