Feast for Carnival
Its Notting Hill Carnival and we’re celebrating with a few dishes from Levi Roots’ book Food for Friends. We’ve chosen Roots’ Rice, Levi’s Caribbean Tamarind Chickpeas and his Crispy Cornbread.
A great combination.
The spiciness of the rice dish, the soft and creamy chickpeas and the brilliant texture of the cornbread. Although these 3 dishes make a brilliant dinner for 4, we added a portion of American orange buffalo wings, from a recipe similar to the wings served at ‘The Orange Buffalo’ food truck near the Truman Brewery.
We opened a bottle of South African Kanonkop Kadette, but it would have been equally great with a few beers!
