L'Entrecote, London
Established in Paris in the 1950s, Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecote is famous for its steak, chips and its secret sauce. Michael Elghanayan teamed up with Joseph Shashou and Sassan Mokhtarzadeh and asked B3 Designers to recreate the original Paris restaurant on Marylebone Lane. Every small detail has been carefully researched and replicated to produce a space that was as close to the original as possible.
The new shop front is made from a traditional timber structure with inset bevelled glass. Victorian awnings in Entrecote’s distinctive burgundy red colour are an immediately recognisable visual feature. Half-height cream coloured lace curtains complete the French feel and screen off seated customers from the street.
Inside, traditional banquette seats line the walls giving the restaurant a relaxed informal feel. The small hexagonal terracotta tiles were specially sourced from France to achieve an authentic floor finish. The antique mirrors create mottled reflections of the warm glow from the French wall lamps. Hand painted murals depicting scenes from the Venice carnival are positioned around the restaurant. All these small details results in Entrecote on Marylebone Lane being precisely matched to the original Parisian restaurant.
The warm and welcoming atmosphere of Entrecote means it has attracted a loyal following among the discerning diners of London.
